Our Story
Hello!Stephen and Lindsay met in 2011 in a drawing class at the University of Iowa, held in a repurposed Home Depot after a flood years earlier—hardly the most romantic setting, but somehow perfect. Between competing sketches, casual critiques, and falling in love with artists like Bonnard, Courbet, and Balthus, something was already taking shape. It took one fateful night at The Dublin Underground in downtown Iowa City (and maybe a drink or two) for things to click.
Days in the Midwest
Long drives in the country, plein air painting, breakfast at the Bluebird Diner, and farmers market trips—this is how they spent their Iowa City weekends.
In 2014, Lindsay moved to New York to pursue an MFA at Hunter College; Stephen joined her there after completing his teaching certificate in Iowa. Since then, they’ve explored the city together, thrown many theme parties (especially Halloween), regularly wandered the halls of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, discovered their favorite omakase spot, and completely obsessed over their Golden Retriever and dog-child, Lotti.
Making a Home in the City. Brooklyn, that is.
The Proposal

The Proposal 〰️
Lindsay proposed to Stephen at The National Gallery in London in front of a notably romantic painting, Titian’s Bacchus and Ariadne.
….he said yes!
